The perfumed spirit or alcoholate of Fir Balsam (Abies Balsamea) is an extract obtained by cold washing of the concrete of Fir Balsam made from the needles of the tree harvested in North America. This old method has been brought up to date by our chief sourceur, and allows us to get as close as possible to the original smell of the tree, and to retranscribe its entire olfactory spectrum.

Creamy and leathery, Fir Balsam Alcoholate is ideal for creating perfumes with character or simply to enhance your cosmetic creations. But above all, it will surprise you with its irresistible fragrance, both balsamic and burning.

Perfumery

OLFACTORY DESCRIPTION

Balsam Fir delivers a complex and surprisingly versatile note in perfumery. Here, its alcoholate instantly initiates a dialogue between a burnt, almost leathery wood facet and a smooth, enveloping effect. This contrast, so seductive at first, gradually harmonizes into a throbbing, burning heart. Like a perfume in itself, it comes to lavish fruity notes, sometimes candied, as well as floral and unexpected. This is the singularity of this fragrance, in that its olfactory evolution seems to be reversed : from a fierce and incisive wood, to a soft oriental freshness.

In food

Balsam Fir alcoholate does not currently have a FEMA* Number

*The FEMA number is an international food safety number. It is essential to be able to use them in food, without it, you are not allowed to consume them. Le Sourceur rejects any responsibility in case of non respect of these rules. Our alcoholates are also very concentrated in alcohol, it seems that they are ideal to use to create syrups, cocktails or any dish to be eaten cold, especially desserts. On the other hand and after many tests, their flash point seems too low to be of any interest in a hot dish, unless added after cooking, just before serving. Be careful with their use in the kitchen, too much of them can be dangerous. If in doubt, contact a specialist.
