Tolu balsam (Myroxylon balsamum) ultrasonic extract is a treasure straight from South America, particularly the lush forests of Colombia. Often confused with Peru balsam, it is extracted from the living trunks of the Myroxylon balsamum var. toluiferum tree. Initially, it takes the form of a brownish, sticky, semi-fluid mass, which gradually hardens on contact with air to become solid and brittle. When heated, it becomes malleable again, revealing its full aromatic richness.
Tolu balsam is particularly prized in perfumery for its warm, sweet and slightly spicy scent. A must-have that was missing from Le Sourceur’s collection, we have chosen to offer you this Ultrason for its unique properties and captivating aroma.
Apart from vanilla and benzoin, there are few other ingredients that are as velvety, creamy and indulgent; in other words, balmy. This obvious richness does not overshadow the many diverse undertones that lend great subtlety to this fragrance: sometimes toasted, roasted, like burnt caramel, sometimes more resinous and vegetal, it also becomes slightly woody and leathery at the end of its journey.

Ultrasounds are sensitive to UV radiation and to the gradual evaporation of their constituents. It is therefore essential to store them in a sealed glass or aluminium bottle at a temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
