New arrivals: Infusions, Ultrasounds and Upcycling!
Alcoholate of Carnation is an extract obtained by cold washing of the concrete of the carnation flower harvested in India. This old method has been brought up to date by our sourcing manager, and allows us to get as close as possible to the original smell of the plant, and to retranscribe its entire olfactory spectrum. It is derived from the common carnation or wallflower whose scientific name is Dianthus Caryophyllus.
A full floral fragrance with spicy notes close to Clove, Carnation Alcoholate is ideal for creating perfumes with character or simply to enhance your cosmetic creations. But above all it will surprise you with its irresistible powdery and hypnotic fragrance.
A flower that has been sought after in perfumery for centuries, the carnation alcolohate expresses its subtle fragrance here with great fidelity. The first moments are subjugating, with a complex and generous bouquet, while the characteristic spicy note of Clove gradually imposes itself. A full floral fragrance with a hypnotic powdery heart.
Heart
As a floral and spicy note, Carnation alcoholate combines wonderfully with woody and ambery, usually oriental, backgrounds such as Patchouli, Sandalwood or Vanilla.
However, it can also be surrounded by green, honeyed or fruity facets to gain vitality at the start of its evaporation and in the heart space. Thus, to associate it with Jasmine and/or Rose is very judicious.
Carnation is a famous note in perfumery but actually quite rare because it is very often reconstituted (from a floral and wallflower blend). It has been featured in classics such as Nina Ricci’s Air du Temps in 1951 as well as in equally cult modern perfumes (Flower by Kenzo). It is also found in niche compositions such as Luttens with Vitriol d’Oeillet.

From the first breaths, the warmth of the spicy notes so characteristic of the carnation alcoholate come to tickle our nostrils. In particular its clove note that pierces us, yet softly. At the emotional level, it acts in the same direction, which is explained by the presence of phenols. It would thus be good to call it “soft attack commando”. Because the spirit of the carnation, finally, is the benevolent friend who motivates us by raising his voice slightly and transmits strength, energy and courage.
